I am Parvathy Iyer, an UX/UI Designer based in Austin, TX with a passion for human centered experiences via creative choices.

My background in Design and Business Intelligence allow for a multidisciplinary approach to creating impactful solutions to problems by placing the user at the forefront of the process and the product.

I have been married to Raj for the last 15 years. He knows all my idiosyncrasies (for real). Our permanent love is our daughter. Our current obsession is growing plants at home. We also enjoy travelling, photography and reading books(the first two together, the last one apart).

Early Years

  • Grew up in India.
  • Devoured books of myths and tales, especially the illustrated kind.
  • Storytelling fascinated me, these grand and complex worlds made accessible in a fun and easily digested format.
  • This interest has stayed with me through my life, guiding my education and career.

Professional Life

  • Began as a Graphic Designer at Sikorsky Aircraft.
  • Adapted Business Intelligence Development into my skillset.
  • Learnt the importance of communication and an user centric, iterative and creative aproach to work.
  • Realized I was telling stories, simplifying complex worlds.

Winds of Change

  • In 2013, felt a need to change paths to storytelling and design.
  • Enrolled in a Fullstack Web Development bootcamp to learn more about website development.
  • Really enjoyed the front end(UI) aspects, but not the back end.
  • Became a mother.

Current Path

  • Craved a deeper understanding of the 'why' and the 'how' behind websites with great UI.
  • The UX Immersion course at Careerfoundry has given me a well rounded perspective on the process of UX.
  • Learnt about detail oriented research and analytical methods and also applied a Mobile First approach to my projects.
